ETC Spin-Off Companies
Some of the most exciting developments here at the ETC are the projects that have begun as student research and made the leap to the "real world." The ETC strongly believes in supporting and nurturing the entreprenuerial spirit that so many of our students have. Here are a couple examples of recent companies that have "spun-out" of the ETC.

| Interbots Initiative |
|
| Interbots Initiative (IBI) originated at Carnegie Mellon's Entertainment Technology Center in 2004 where it was a student pitched project for two semesters before spinning off into a small company. The primary goal of Interbots Initiative is to create compelling animatronic characters who enable memorable interactions with their guests. To that end, IBI specializes in the design and construction of custom interactive characters (both physical and virtual), control software, and interactive multimedia content for those characters. Quasi, IBI's first animatronic character, was selected to be the mascot of the World's Fair for Kids in Orlando, FL. Quasi has also made several television appearances and attended the SIGGRAPH 2005 Emerging Technologies Exhibition in Los Angeles, CA. Quasi and his IBI family are very excited to discover where the future will lead them. |

| PeaceMaker |
|
PeaceMaker is a one-player game in which the player can choose to take the role of either the Israeli Prime Minister or the Palestinian President. The player must react to in-game events, from diplomatic negotiations to military attacks, and interact with eight other political leaders and social groups in order to establish a stable resolution to the conflict before his or her term in office ends. PeaceMaker, at its core, is a game for the future– a game which will teach the player that peace and cohabitation, not war and annihilation, are the only real strategies worth fighting for.
