| | For the third year in a row, the Carnegie Mellon Entertainment Technology Center welcomed a contingent of game designers, developers, animators, programmers, and professors from all over Korea to a two-week residency at the Carnegie Mellon West campus in Mountain View, California. Sponsored by the Korean Game Academy, under the auspices of the Korean Interactive Game Association (KOIGA), the residency is designed to acquaint Korean game developers and academics with the latest issues in game design here in the USA. KOIGA is a government agency created to help Korea's thriving game industry. It seeks to promote the Korean game industry by exporting Korean games to overseas markets and by helping Korean game companies work with companies like EA, Activision, and others. This current two-week residency has as its focus the use of artificial intelligence in games. The schedule, crafted by ETC faculty member Josh Yelon, covers a wide range of topics on the subject of artificial intelligence and computer graphics. In addition to this breadth and depth of lectures, the Korean Game Academy attendees will also visit various Bay area gaming companies: Cryptic Studios, Shaba Games, Electronic Arts, and Lucas Arts. In addition, a variety of social activities is planned for the ETC guests.
