Student handbook for the ETC class that started August 26 2024
Seung-hwan (a.k.a Ryan) started learning programming languages like GW-BASIC or FORTRAN when he was 9 years old and he obtained his first certificate of computer qualification from The Chamber of Commerce and Industry at his age of 13.
He holds dual BS of Computer Science and Digital Media. That is, he has developed not only the skills of an engineer but also the aesthetics of a designer. He has various intense IT experiences such as mobile development research at the Institute of Advanced Engineering of Korea and the database automation internship at Motorola USA. He also worked for NHN Corporation the leading IT company in Korea and some other IT companies.
He did 2 years military duty in the U.S. Army. He was selected as a KATUSA(Korean Augmentation To the United States Army) and he served as a non-commissioned officer of the U.S. Army. For meritorious service and sincerity, he received the Army Commendation Medal from United States Department of the Army.
He likes to play soccer and listen to Shibuya-kei, euro dance and house music. Also, he is a Taekwondo master with a second-degree black belt. He was a silver medalist at the Taekwondo Competition held by Kukkiwon.
Before coming to ETC, he studied at the Illinois Institute of Technology as an exchange student. So, he still misses Chicago very much, but he believes that ETC and ETCers will make him love this place!
