404 Productions is working with Carnegie Mellon University’s CyLab to create an interactive web-based game for picoCTF 2022, a cyber security competition.
We seek to engage players and teach them introductory concepts used in cyber security, as well as encourage them to continue learning after our experience.
Our game is aimed at high-school students who are unfamiliar with basic cyber security concepts and may not be fully invested in the competition. It will provide an inviting atmosphere for the player to explore, and will abstract necessary knowledge into game mechanics so that players will feel comfortable interacting with the pieces. Ultimately, players will be able to link what they are doing in the game with how cyber security works in real life.
In essence, we are turning people who feel that cyber security is impossible to comprehend, into people who feel that cyber security is approachable.
