Welcome to BVW at the Entertainment Technology Center Building
Lots of exciting changes here! This year, the Building Virtual Worlds
course will be taught at the Entertainment Technology Center, which is located a
short drive off campus, at the 2nd Avenue Pittsburgh Technology Center complex.
The good news is:
1) There's a shuttle that runs every day, even
weekends!
2) The facilities we have are unbelievable! Check out these
photos!

We have our own
rooms: there are two of them: here's one - note the open space!

They have virtual
reality headmounts set up, right in the room

All the extra
equipment (scanners, printers, you name it) we could ever want

Heck, there's
so much equipment there are still tons of computers that we haven't even
bothered unpacking yet!

Many of the
workstations have dual-monitors, so you can really spread out and work more
comfortably

Huge
windows with tons of natural light!
How to Get There
But the best
part! We're on the top floor, and the view is great (this picture doesn't quite
do it justice)
If you have your own car, you can drive down yourself - driving
directions are here
Otherwise, there's a free shuttle...

It will
probably be a big bus that looks like this

Here's
another picture

But it might look
like this; anything big and white that comes along, I'd suggest asking the
driver if he/she is headed to the Entertainment Technology Center down at 2nd
Avenue.
The shuttle stops two
places on campus:

Here
they are, shown as red rectangles

NOTE! The
"Morewood Stop" is here (it stops on Morewood Avenue, not at the bus stop
on Forbes.)

The second
stop is at Scaife Hall

And here's how
it looks with the Shuttle there!
SHUTTLE SCHEDULE
Monday through
Friday:
The Shuttle leaves campus at 9am, 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm,
4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 9pm, 10pm and 11pm. It picks up at Morewood "on the hour"
and then goes to the Scaife pickup. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the ETC.
The Shuttle leaves the ETC at 9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 2:30pm,
3:30pm, 4:30pm, 5:30pm, 6:30pm, 7:30pm, 9:30pm, 10:30pm, and 11:30pm.
Weekends
On Saturdays and Sundays the Shuttle runs
from 11am (first trip from campus) to 5:30pm (last trip back from ETC)
The BVW class will accommodate the shuttle schedule: in order to be "on
time" for class, just catch the 3pm Shuttle -> class will start when you get
here. Class goes until 5:20, making it easy to catch the 5:30 shuttle back to
campus.
See you Tuesday!
