ETC Press is excited and pleased to announce the release of:
Well Played 1.0: Video Games, Value and Meaning
22 contributors (developers, scholars, reviewers and bloggers) look closely at some of their favorite video games, and explore the experience of playing those games.
Well Played 1.0 is meant to be the first book in a series. We're already planning 1.5 (with contributors writing on the some of the same games found in 1.0) and 2.0 (with contributors writing on new games that aren't covered in 1.0).
One of our student pitched projects, ARx: Deep Sleep Initiative, was selected to show a table top version of their game at the annual curated IndieCade showcase at E3. Team members consist of: Tracy Brown, Nicole Epps, Hee Jun Kim, Brad Michael, Karin Ray and Allison Theus.
The Alternate Reality eXperiment was a journey through cross-media creating an experimental casual alternate reality game (ARG). The team created a print publication as the main vehicle for the story, comprised of puzzles, fiction, art, poetry, photography and other creative mediums to create the universe in which the ARG is located. After creating all the content, websites, audio and video to support the print publication, the team then planted the hand-crafted journals throughout the United States.
Of course, you can download a copy of the journal if you weren’t lucky enough to find one. Enter the rabbit hole at: www.DreamersOftenLie.com.
IndieCade supports and showcases the work of independent game makers around the world. Visit them at http://www.indiecade.com. E3 will be at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 2nd – 4th.
Trino, a student pitch project in spring 2008, spent two semesters developing a full game. Trino is finally released on Xbox Live Community Games.
Simply sign in to your Xbox Live, go to Game Marketplace -> Community Games, and you’ll be able to find Trino there.
Congratulations!
