Feu d’artifice (Fireworks), a 1917 ballet of lights by Giacomo Balla and Igor Stravinsky, has been digitally re-imagined at the ETC by a of techno-artists directed by Franco Sciannameo, CFA Associate Dean for Interdisciplinary Initiatives. This work, part of the on-going “Re-imagining Futurism for the Digital Era” ETC project, has been selected by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum for the 2014 Italian Futurism Exhibition, which will take place in New York from February 21 to May 14 and in Bilbao from June 17 to September 19, 2014.
According to Dr. Vivien Greene, Curator of 19th- and Early 20th-Century Art, “the video will be presented on a monitor installed in a gallery that will create an evocation of this theatrical piece with lighting, Stravinsky’s music and Balla’s original studies.”
Congratulations to the Feu d'artifice team: Matt Champer, Kana Otaki, and Francisco Souki
