Atomic Zone is a project team at Carnegie Mellon’s Entertainment Technology Center charged with creating a new interactive experience that enables visitors to immerse themselves in the aftermath of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima, Japan during World War II. Working with the Army’s Telemedicine & Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) and our client representative Dr. Brett Talbot, the team will create a narrative-driven virtual experience that depicts the effects of the bombing with geographical, medical, and historical accuracy. The project will also serve as a platform for future medical training simulations. Our biggest challenge is to highlight the human element of nuclear warfare while maintaining an apolitical message about the power of nuclear weaponry.
