Week 14

After working really hard over the weekend, the team was excited to show our game to the faculty on Monday. We made sure we had a how to play manual for everyone and also a handbook with all the parts in the inventory. It was challenging to show the entire gameplay in 20 minutes, but we think we did a good job presenting our game. We made faculties choose one of the four roles and experience an entire game loop. We saw faculty communicating with each other to gather missing information and also to make decisions when a project was assigned. The general feedback was that the core of the game was functioning quite well, but we needed some more improvements to guide the player to know what to do next.

Wednesday we received feedback from Scott about our soft opening. Few of the areas we needed improvement was in setting up clearer instructions for flow and experience. We also need to make sure that the handbook data is consistent and make sure the user experience is clear in terms of the feedback that a player receives from our game. Showing how the backend works in relation to the game was also crucial. We also had a visitor from SAE International on Wednesday. Kevin Joist, a technical engineer, was the one who started FSAE team at the University of Pittsburgh when he was pursuing mechanical engineering. He visited our project room and spent over an hour experiencing our game and also giving us feedback along the way. He also agreed to verify our game content and some other valuable feedback to make the game more clear to the engineers who will play the game eventually. This was really helpful for us, and we are thankful to Kevin for visiting us.

Thursday we had a meeting with Shirley Yee,  where she gave us the general faculty feedback from the faculty. We also were able to explain better the process of developing our game and also the challenges we faced through the semester. Ashley also got some great feedback from her about the UI of the game and how to improve it. We also had a visit from Scott where he shared with us the faculty feedback more in detail, and we gave him an update on the progress and what the plan is for the next two weeks.  We also did a playtest with Seth to get valuable feedback on  UI and flow of the game. The team also met to distribute tasks and make sure we knew what we all were doing to be ready for the festival.

Friday was mostly spent in heads down work. We also had a meeting with Dave Culyba to get more feedback on our game and what quick improvements could be made in the next two weeks to make our game more clearer. We are all looking forward to working on the game and delivering a successful project.
