Dailies 10/23/2010

What I did:

  • Removed the glow shader effect and replaced with textured planes.
  • Improved camera tracking on jumping and falling characters.
  • Fixed character hand orientations.

What I plan to do:

  • Optimizations to get the game running well on low-end computers.
  • Switch to using our own master server.

Dailies 10/22/2010

What I did:

  • Smoothed out camera views.
  • Camera now always tracks the character instead of the artifact.
  • Added a .1 second leniency after falling off a platform where you are still allowed to jump.
  • Pulled back cameras a bit when zoomed in.
  • Character attractors can now be set to completely override the player's input.
  • Fixed networking when starting the game at 2.1.
  • Hopefully fixed the networked camera glitches.
  • Hopefully fixed networked box issues.
  • Fixed the bug where a character on a moving platform would pass through terrain.
  • Added support for terrain-specific footstep sounds.
  • Characters can now jump up through platforms.
  • Characters will no longer drop through vertically-moving platforms.

What I plan to do:

  • Redo glow effect using texture planes instead of glow shaders.
  • Improve camera tracking of jumping characters.

  • Lots of halves prep.
  • Added (temporary) jump sound.
  • A couple bug fixes.

Dailies 10/19/2010

What I did:

  • Added triggered camera pans.
  • Spent a lot of timing figure out performance issues on low-end computers. (Seems to be mostly post-effects.)
  • Added camera pans to gesture tutorial.
  • Fixed a bunch of bugs.
  • Played with post effects, such as blur and depth-of-field.
  • Add (very) basic "yell" mechanic. (Press the down button.)

What I plan to do:

  • Halves prep.
  • Bug fixes as necessary for halves demo.

Dailies 10/18/2010

What I did:

  • Fixed network death & respawning.
  • Met with Paulwei and then the rest of team to discuss production process.
  • First version of gesture tutorial.
  • Cameras now track the vertical position of the character much more smoothly (such as when jumping).

What I plan to do:

  • Camera pan on events.
  • Halves prep.

Dailies 10/15/2010

What I did:

  • Triggers can now be made to work reliably over the network. (Such as standing on a button to open a door.)
  • Fixed bug where it is possible for a character to die in one player's screen but not the other.
  • Meeting with Chris where we figured out the exact order in which we teach the players the rules of the game, and how we teach those rules. (Subject to change, of course.)
  • Added gesture puzzle triggers.

What I plan to do:

  • Possibly put together initial gesture tutorial, since that's a pretty complicated sequence of events.

What I did:

  • Fixed bug that allows you to push boxes through walls.
  • Fixed door and piston prefabs.
  • A lot of fighting with unity.

What I plan to do:

  • Gesture puzzles.
  • Go over beat-by-beat of game with Chris.

What I did:

  • Playtest meeting w/ Jiyoung & Carl.
  • Added context-sensitive mouse cursors.
  • Added shift icon displayed next to character's arm for mirroring.
  • Added a helper menu item to quickly change terrain tilesets.
  • Greatly improved click-to-pull mechanic of boxes.
  • Fixed bug where buttons rise into the air.

What I plan to do:

  • Fix bug that allows you to push boxes into walls.
  • Add gesture puzzles.

Dailies 10/12/2010

What I did:

  • Updated most of the prefabs to use new art from Katherine and Hugo.
  • Falling doors will now kill the player, just like pistons.
  • Character head controls are now more responsive.
  • Added Hugo's push and pull box animations. Also added footstep sounds to those animations.
  • State of objects can now be reset, such as by pressing a button.
  • Added linked falling platforms with reset buttons.

What I plan to do:

  • More fixes as desired from teammates.
  • Maybe start playing with tone control.
