The design of the Digiboxx has been dealt with on a few different levels. The kiosk has to be first visually and audibly pleasing from a distance followed by the touch screen interface. The integration of these two aspects with a unified aesthetic feel shall be our biggest challenge from the art and design standpoint.

Collages

Below are two collages (both roughly 3ft. wide) that were made from gathering magazine clippings, fliers, and posters from NYC to Pittsburgh. The left is a "Product Board" representing technology and forms from industry, and the right is a "Customer Board" which exemplifies visual styles and graphics that our customers would be attracted to and excited about.

Interface Branding

The project is going in a very stylized direction, for which we have studied many color pallets to express the appropriate balance of stylish edge with ease of use. Below is an illustrations (left) which has helped us set the aesthetic style for the design. To the right are the color studies for the illustration (click to see a larger version):

Initial Kiosk Designs

The kiosk is based on a standard PC with a flat panel LCD monitor, slot loading CD burner, and a USB hub for MP3 players. For audio there is a head phone jack for the headphones, as well as a directional speaker. Below are concept sketches that has been done to create functionality and style to the above hardware, as well as potential secondary devices (click to see a larger version):

Secondary Phase Designs

Below are blueprints that we used to present 3 stylized concepts for the Digiboxx. The basis behind all of them is to design a form that is very simple and sculptural but still have a strong grasp on functionality. There are many different components that we had to implement into the kiosk designs (see above for more details) which was our biggest hurdle in this stage of development.
