Domites
 Domites
is an abstract, 'psychedelic' experience that centers around
abstract blob creatures that float in space around the dome.
These blobs, called Domites, can be acted upon by the guests
in interesting ways. In addition, the Domites have some emergent
properties that give them a life of their own.
Guest Interface
Guests act on the Domites through three different tools:
the Painter, the Mover, and the Splitter.
The Painter (joystick) changes the color
of a Domite. It slowly cycles through the available colors
(3 to start). When the guest brings the Painter into contact
with a Domite, the Domite changes color to match the current
color of the Painter.
The Mover (mouse) moves Domites around
the space of the Dome. It "grabs" a Domite (by
clicking or some other mechanism) and the guest can then
move that Domite. When a Domite is grabbed and moved by
the Mover, the three closest Domites follow it around (in
a flocking kind of way).
The Splitter (joystick) makes a Domite
split into three little Domites. When concentrated on a
Domite (for about 2 seconds), the Splitter causes the Domite
to perform a mitosis like transformation into 3 smaller
Domites.
Domite Properties
The Domites have several properties that make them unique.
Growth: The children of a split Domite
start their lives small and grow to full size over a period
of about 5 seconds. During this growth period, the Domite
cannot be acted upon by any of the guest tools.
Music/Dancing: The Domites are joyous
creatures who like to dance. Each color of Domite has it's
own musical loop. The more Domites of one color there are
in the world, the louder the associated loop. Each Domite
also dances in place to the music.
Mutations: When 10 Domites of the same
color are in proximity to one another (closely grouped),
one of the Domites will mutate, bringing a new color into
the world.
Explosions: When a group of Domites includes
one of each color, there is an explosion, rocking the world
and transitioning the background. With each explosion, the
loops and animations associated with each color of Domite
will change.
