The goal of the Gamenomics project is to create a fun networked multiplayer business simulation game that can be educational both inside and outside the classroom. The game will assist students in grasping the most difficult concepts taught in an introductory economics class.
In Gamenomics players own companies in a supply chain, where they process raw materials into intermediate and end products. The game is turn-based, and each turn, players have to acquire resources, produce goods, and buy/sell/trade with other players and non-player entities.
The way our game will teach is by immersing the player in a situation where they are challenged by a difficult economic concept. The game will provide the player with all of the necessary information to deduce the underlying economic theory and try to guide them towards a solution. We believe that this structure will provide the players with both economic knowledge and the joy of having overcome an obstacle. |
