Puppeteering

RSCS

The Realtime Show Control System (RSCS) is our primary show control and puppeteering tool.

RSCS Interface
This is the main user interface for the show controller. Note the SMPTE time code display and the list of currently cued shows. This is also the interface used for recording puppeteered motions for use later as cued show elements.
The show controller can display a chart of the current DMX signal that is being output. In the view shown here, the busy black line is the channel for the character's jaw that makes him talk.
For puppeteering, you have to tell the program what input device controls what DMX output channel. In this image, the character's eyelids are being controlled by twisting a joystick. Using this same system, you can also puppeteer light levels and 3D sound positions and see it happen on the fly.
