Week11

What we did

Last week on Tuesday, we had a major update for our game. The whole team stayed and made huge progress. We implemented all the fundamental assets and mechanism that are needed for game play.
Right now, we have the turn changing systems, new tile concept, the round system, and inventory implemented.

On Wednesday, our instructors came in and did a play test. The feedback was generally positive:

Specifically:

  1. The overall feeling of the world is consistent and positive
  2. The game seems fun and interesting to interact with
  3. The world feels almost like a lego world — riff on that

Things to improve

  1. It’s hard to figure out what to do and what is happening because there is no visual indication other than text.
  2. The positions of the spaces between the player and the game object seems awkward.
  3. Would be good if players can choose their own character.
  4. Need to work more on giving instructions.
  5. Having sound will help

Things to do for This Week

Based on the feedback we received, we are now working on implementing sounds to offer more clear indication of certain events.
Also, we are working on adapting tutorial for the game so that we can give the players a chance to learn how to play the game before the actual game starts, so that they can get more immersed in the game experience. We don’t expect that for next week, but we do expect to have an implementation plan by this coming Tuesday. We’d like to get our tutorial in by the following week’s update.
We are also working on implementing assets for the big avatar and polish the UI for menu and controller. Per our schedule, we’re having weekly Tuesday/Wednesday updates/demo sessions. We hope this helps us to polish our game based on feedback.
