Week 12

In this week, we have a great process on our project.

On the design and art aspect, we have done a lot.

  • We fixed a lot of bugs
  • implement the function of telling different character.
  • Finished trading system
  • Changed the interaction between player and items.

Playtest Part

In the Friday, our team hold a playtest to test our game.

Here are the feedback and our team discussion:

1. Turn/ Rounds/ Clock.
Most people didn’t feel like the clock was conveying important information and they never looked at it. When the tile health decrease, they didn’t understand the reason for it.
2. Space
The starting point is currently not in the middle. The starting point seemed too far away and players felt disconnected because of the distance between players. They didn’t feel indication of danger and the tiles are too small to clearly see.
3. Confusing Interface
After choosing the move, they were confused when the menu disappeared and the cursor didn’t show right away.
4. Off turn
Because they had nothing to do during their off turn, they wanted to interact with the environment(especially, helper)
5. Items
Most players felt that the current game had no strategy involved because they had limited choices. They felt that there is no need for cooperation in the game. They thought the implementation of items would make the game more fun but needs to be clear on how they can use it.
Team Discussion
We all agreed that items are needed for fun gameplay. However, the interaction is not polished(therefore, confusing) and there are still a lot of bugs in the game. If we choose to implement all the items in the game, this means we sacrifice our time to polish what we have. Therefore, we decided to create a fully playable, bug-free version by soft and receive feedback.
Full playable, bug-free version means a game with:
– Opening screen
– Tutorial(mini-game)
– Polished UI
– All the animation implemented
– Clear winning/losing scene
– All sounds implemented
– No bugs( stable build)
– One item added( Heal)
