Technology

Game Engine
The Kotodama prototype is being developed in Python using the Panda3D open source game development engine.

Speech Recognition

Kotodama relies heavily on the use of speech input from the player. Currently Kotodama uses the Julius open source real-time large vocabulary speech recognition engine developed at Kyoto University.

Controller

Kotodama is designed to be played with a typical game controller. This input was chosen because of its appeal and familiarity to Kotodama's intended demographic. The currently recommended controller is the Logitech PC Controller.

Mic Headset
For speech input the Kotodama project uses the Sennheiser PC 150 headset. A mic headset is recommeded to prevent interference of game audio with player speech input.
