Episode Nine & Ten: Presentations Galore

The past two weeks were blur for the team, with several milestones being accomplished within days of each other.

The week began with the completion of our first prototype of Locanimals. We were incredibly excited: We could play the game out in the real world! It is still only the foundational skeleton, but the core foundation is there.

Just a few days later, the team presented our progress at Halves. We presented the results of our UI, Locanimal, and Battle tests: nearly all reaffirmed our direction and suggested to us how to improve our designs. We performed a live demo of our game and also talked about the work to be done in the rest of the semester.

Our feedback was thoroughly positive: we were told to keep it up and they liked how much we had done… However, they felt that our current location-based features were a bit too passive and we need to create more features tied directly to location (such as location-specific battle conditions).

This influenced our second pitch (which occurred only a week later). Our second semester would be spent working on a more active location-based feature (with the rest of the semester spent focusing on improving our current app). We also spoke with the Andy Warhol Museum and they agreed to sign on as a client if we receive a second semester.

Despite all this great progress, we did have some trouble initiating our alpha. We originally anticipated pushing builds manually to our players, but Apple decided to make this ridiculously difficult to do. As a result, we pushed up our Testflight set-up, which has ended up being wonderful! We’re excited for testing to pick up speed in the coming week.
