Locanimals Quest: Week Four

The team trucks forward, making steady progress as we approach Quarters.

Progress is slowly being made on both our battle and quest systems. Around the middle of the week, we were almost 50% complete with the new battle system (and 20% done with the quest system).

We also received feedback on our two initial concepts for the Andy Warhol Museum. Edielope was met with great praise for her design. Peaseri was liked as well, but it was decided that she needed to embody a more classic Warhol “Leading Lady” look. So, her design will likely go through some more variations in color. Billy Name was also decided to be too difficult a reference for the third Locanimal, so the Andy Warhol will let us know a new character to base a design on.

Phil completed models of Duppy and a dinosaur Locanimal which are ready to be textured this week.

Dani led our first UI test of the semester, paper playtesting a new Quest interface with 6 playtesters. Dani received great feedback on her designs, which were intuitive and easy to understand for nearly all our testers. She is now going to work on refining them even more in preparation for Quarters.

In the meantime, Colleen and John completed work on our first Developer Vlog. We received a good range of feedback on it and both of us have improved our editing skills greatly. We’re looking forward to making our next video this coming week.

Of course, you’ll hear about this and more at Quarters.
