Locanimals Quest: Week Five

A big milestone this week was the completion of Quarters.

We presented the results of our first two weeks’ planning meetings, progress made on our revised battle system, iteration on UI, and the first results of our initial client work. All steady progress, showing that our semester has been focused on improving our product slowly and steadily in directions we believe will allow us to distinguish or game.

The feedback we received was positive, with most focusing on our direction being the right one. A few faculty members were subtle, yet clear, about a common concern: What is the big picture? The endgame for Locanimals?

Jesse provided a suggestion for the team: Why not take what you have to GDC Play? Additional advisors provided great feedback on this too–real industry players could let us know if what we’re making is worth pursuing. The team has coalesced around this new goal and have shifted our next few weeks to bring our app to a level ready for GDC Play.

In the meantime, Christian completed work on the new battle system, creating every single new battle move and preparing it for testing. Phil has begun the process of playtesting the battle system.

Jon has continued working on the quest system, but unfortunately ran into some difficulties with his actual project team, having to back off as a result.

John completed work on Edielope’s texturing and finishing a new concept for a more tough, battle-ready Locanimal. Dani has continued working on UI, focusing on icons. We will continue moving forward into the next weeks!
