The Process

Through the course of this Semester, in Fall of 2012, we will meet on a monthly basis with our client, Dr. Rui Caldeira of Wakes.Uma.Pt.

The first quarter of the semester is devoted to research, gaining a better understanding of our client’s goals and the landscape our mobile app will inhabit.  At the end of the first quarter, we present on our research and a few initial app concepts.

From there, we spend the second quarter narrowing down our pitches into a single design.  Simultaneously, we test the technical difficulties of our design.  In order to explore and prepare for the difficulties ahead, we build a ‘primitive iteration’- a program which integrates our technical data and art and animation elements.  Through this iteration, we refine our pitch and present this, with detailed and finalized stylistic and sample animations, at Halves presentations.

From thereon out, our time is devoted to iterating on our concept- building the app, testing with users, refining it, and planning a release date.  This release will include a comprehensive strategy for maximizing the impact of our project, including contacting hotels and finding sustainable ways to introduce tourists to our app.  We will also create videos and polished media objects to help our client advocate for the value of his weather forecasting data.
