seAker is a physics-based exploration game for touch-screen devices currently in development at Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center. It is expected to reach the App Store this winter. The core gameplay mechanic consists of slingshotting a shrimp character from bubble to bubble in an underwater environment, collecting gems and using different types of terrain to navigate through the space. The goal is to travel from point A to point B in order to track down a villainous squid who has stolen the shrimp’s treasured jewel. By bouncing off of coral walls and sea sponges, jetting through ocean currents, and sliding along blocks of ice, the player employs projectile launch techniques similar to those of miniature golf, billiards, and pinball.
