George Westinghouse Synthetic Interview

Client

The Senator John Heinz History Center is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and the largest history museum in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Challenge

The Heinz History Center will offer a Synthetic Interview with American inventor George Westinghouse as part of an exhibit on the technology and inventors of western Pennsylvania opening in November 2008. Our client wanted the Westinghouse exhibit to convey the creativity, inventiveness, and generosity of Westinghouse as an individual. The visitor should come away with an understanding that Westinghouse was a man before he was a brand.

Solution

Our team worked closely with Heinz History Center content experts. We provided Heinz with three unique design concepts, produced multiple alternative working prototypes for the design that they selected, and worked to finalize technical specifications for the installation. We also held auditions, cast the role of Westinghouse, arranged for makeup and costuming, and recorded over two-hundred minutes of our Westinghouse answering questions. We then edited and rendered these video assests, and developed and tested the user interface.
