Feedback from Playtest

Part of the game that all kids loved:

  • Some kids weren’t confident with fractions in the beginning, but after they got 2 simple fractions right, they gained the confidence to keep going.
  • Everyone loved the candy art.
  • They liked the interactions of them pointing to the floor and the animation reacting to them.
  • Every kid found the game to be helpful and fun to play.
  • All the kids loved the competitive part in the game.
Parts of the game that kids had trouble with:
  • Some of the kids thought that each individual part of the candy was 1 candy. So they got confused when they had picked the right number of candies, but weren’t correct.
  • They were confused about the number line as it didn’t have any markers. So maybe small markers might be helpful.
  • Some of the fractions were too confusing for them, like 11/4. So having them learn some very simple fractions in the beginning and slowly progressing to more difficult fractions might help.
  • Some kids thought that the candies on the corner were part of the game interaction, so making them a lighter shade to blend in the background might be an option. We can also make them part of the gameplay.
  • One of the the girls mentioned that the green circle for pointer was tough to see and suggested that it should be made darker.
  • I think that it’ll be fun to see an animation of the monster eat the candies if they get a specific answer right.
  • Adding sound to the game for level up and getting the answer right might help.
  • Some of the kids had to be repeatedly reminded that they have to point at a candy to uncheck it.
