The Starscape team is developing an interactive experience for the “Star Tower”, the latest addition at Give Kids the World, a non-profit resort in Orlando, Florida. Children with life-threatening illnesses and their families are invited to stay at the resort free of charge, and part of their trip includes a visit to the Star Fairy. The child will personalize a small gold star, then come back the next day to find their star on the ceiling of the Castle of Miracles. Now nearly full after visits by over 100,000 families, a 400 square-foot tower is being constructed to house new stars and extend this program for years to come.
The team will work with ITEC, the company behind the design of the Star Tower to create an interactive show for families and children to locate and view their own star amongst the tens of thousands of stars lining the interior walls of the tower. Working with light, sound, and a network of cameras, this project intends to further develop the mythology of the Star Fairy and provide families with a meaningful and close-up connection with an object that is physically out of reach.
