Andreia Formico

Andreia Formico is currently a Visiting Researcher Scholar in the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University. She is a Professor in the Center of Technological Sciences at the University of Fortaleza, Brazil. Andreia holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Imperial College London, UK. She has previously served as the General Chair (2002) and Program Co-Chair (2005) for SIBGRAPI, the South America’s most prestigious forum supporting the publication of original research in Computer Graphics, Patterns and Images, and as the Program Chair (Computing Track) of the Brazilian Symposium on Computer Games and Digital Entertainment (SBGAMES 2015). Andreia is currently serving as Co-Chair of the Virtual and Augmented Reality Graduate Workshop (WTD SVR) and as one of the five members of the Steering Committee of the SBGAMES. She is a member of the editorial review board of the International Journal of Handheld Computing Research and Associate Editor of the ACM Computers in Entertainment Journal (ACM-CIE). Her research interests are in computer games (from concept to completion), real-time computer graphics, collision detection and physics simulations, virtual reality applications, and user experience (UX).
