Hello! I'm Karin.
I'm finishing up my Masters Degree at Carnegie Mellon's Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) where I've gotten the opportunity to make everything from video games to themed installations. Before coming to CMU, I was down at the University of Florida earning a BFA in Electronic Inter-media. The degree allowed me to explore many different aspects of art making from video to web to interactive sculpture.
Lucky for me, I've been able to continue exploring those areas here at the ETC through various projects. Right now, I'm working as an artist on a school project for Give Kids the World. Our team, which consists of six people, is working to re-design an interactive installation that will be set up in the Give Kids the World Village in Central Florida. On the team, I basically get to do all the things I love: design experiences, draw concept art, and sculpt prototypes. Plus, I'm working with a great team of people for a great cause!
Working on this project satisfied my desire to find some type of work where I could use my technical skills and gain more experience working in a multidisciplinary team and rapidly designing/prototyping ideas. I know its clique, but, being on this project has transformed me from someone who stares at awe at magic to someone who gets to make the magic.
