Week 10 – Data from our client!

Home / Week 10 – Data from our client!

This week, we finally got some data from our clients to play with! The data consists of spoofed information for 6 different patients who have received the LVAD. Each patient profile is extremely detailed – there are around 300 different factors, from cholesterol level to pain level to the number of events (or complications, such as internal bleeding) which have happened to them.

This information will be used in the Personal Prognosis Information (PPI) section of the app, as well as user testing. The first step for us now is to decide, with our client, which of the factors are actually important – there’s no way we can use all 300-ish of them – and which we want to show the patients. We’ve looked through the data already, and hopefully will have this done by the end of next week. Once we have that, we’ll be able to determine what information to pull from the database, as well as start designing the inforgraphics for the data we want to display, for the PPI section.

We can also start creating patient vignettes with only the most important details. Due to medical and privacy issues, we ourselves will not be able to test with actual patients. Our client can, but they are working on a grant timeline instead of an ETC project timeline, which means we will not be able to get the results this semester. Our solution is to give these vignettes to senior citizens in our target age group, and ask them to imagine they are the patients. We will then submit our findings to our client as preliminary data for them to use for future improvement on the app.

This week, we also revisited our schedule and updated it according to Halves feedback and the new requirements from our client. Here it is:
