Prototype [Build: 03/08/2013]

Character!

04soldier_wakingsheet_s

We now have our character!

It is rigged and has the basic walk cycle animation too!

With this character, we will make iterations and many animations to make the game more engaging.

Our 3d modeler Dorothy used a difficult method to rig the character.

But thanks to that, she says it’s now much easier to animate!

This is great news since our game needs many different animations rather than many different characters.

Art Assets!

These are some of the art assets we will be using in our game.

Our awesome 3d artist, Victor, created the models and also textured them too.

Below is mock up screen of our game play, made out of the art pieces we have.

We will be rendering the 3d models into 2d sprites from an angle to make a 2.5d game at the end.

Deciding the rendering angle is still being discussed to achieve the best effects.

We met our client!

SAM_0133

Feb 3rd. We visited the CCCD(Chemical Casualty Care Division). The soldiers there gave us presentations that installed a whole new library of military terms. Thanks to the new words we could understand the design document the client gave us. Also the presentation included details about the training course, which we had to simulate. After we came back, everyone was excited. We all knew what we had to do, along with  a rough picture of what our final product will be. We were motivated by the fact that our application will influence many soldiers, and the soldiers themselves were eager to receive and play the game.

It was 4~5 hours of driving, in the snow, along some weird roads the gps lead us to. We stayed overnight at a hotel in Frederick. We had dinner together, and after that people who were less tired played a boardgame together. The next day we met Harvey who was in charge of our escort . He was very friendly and helpful. The people at the base were friendly too. After the presentations, we went to the small museum of chemical defense equipment from the past to present. We also got some material to decorate our room, and we also were able to buy some awesome looking T-shirts for the CCCD soldiers. We safely came back, and started working the day after.
