Week 9

Week 9

In week 9, the team is collecting feedback from midterm and playtest.

For production, we are working on the following things: hand washing mini interaction, design the candy bowl mini interaction, rendering in Maya, conduct playtests.

Midterm Feedback

We take the midterm feedback seriously and we had a post-mortem meeting to define our problems and solutions:

  1. The production moved slowly. We planed to give more detailed schedule plan with deadlines for every team members.
  2. We are switching our engine from Unreal to Unity, because we cannot get much help for Unreal.
  3. We are going to render the video in Maya instead of in the game engine to better cooperate with the team’s strength.
  4. We will keep developing based on our team’s constraint and strength.

Playtest

We conducted playtests within the ETC this week. We had playtests with 6 people, 4 of them are faculty, and 2 students.

Here are feedbacks we had in the playtest and what we want to change:

  1. The story is too linear. The playtesters are expecting more freedom and agency

2. The players want more interactable items/moments.

3. The virus goal as surviving in the hospital is not clear, because the player cannot find the place to be challenged the most, also cannot find the best place to survive
