Overview

Having been given the green light with regards to the emplacement shooter style VR Defender pitch. We spent this week implementing the core mechanics of the game. The team was also able to use the tours that happen at the ETC to get some playtesting done.

VR Defender

Knowing what we were going to build we set out breaking down the game into the core mechanics that we wanted to have and began implementing them.

For the first part of the week the programmers tested a couple of aiming mechanics and shooting systems and integrated the two which went well together. AS they were doing that the artists began sketching out what the enemies and turret looked like and created early assets based on these sketches for the game to use.

With the these sketches in place our designers and programmers had a shared vision which they set about implementing.

In the playable prototype that can be downloaded as the link below

We have implemented 4 types of enemies and two types of ammunition.

Moving Forward

Currently with most core mechanics settled upon, we intend to use the feedback we get from the client on Monday (Feb22nd) to figure out how to best iterate upon the game in the coming week.
