The Merck project starts on August 29th! Came back to the Entertainment Technology Center for another semester and had our first meeting with the project’s instructors.
We prepared for meeting our client, Merck KGaA, which is also known as EMD in the US, by doing research on their business, looking for games for training on the internet, and trying to make a list of questions that we might want to ask them.
There are several concerns that attract our attention after internal meetings.
First, we have a short discussion about the platform that we are going to use. While gaming VR headsets like Oculus or Vive would definitely result in a more immersive experience, some lighter devices such as Google Cardboard would be much more affordable and convenient. We are planning to see what is more important for our client, and start thinking general ideas that would apply for both of them.
Second, as none of us have experience or background in relevant fields, we might need help for technical and scientific problems. Input and resources from the client would be helpful, one the other hand, we are going to skim some instruction available on their website.
Last but not least, our target audience would be a huge factor in our design progress. How much knowledge can we assume they have? Are they professional technician or user that might not have any experience? How should we adapt our design to either or both of these kinds of users?
Unfortunately, we are not able to meet the client this week. Branding and brainstorming are happening. For next week, we would have our first client meeting! As soon as we got more information from the client, we should be able to have better understanding about our objective.
