Week11-Narrow Down the Scope

Overview of Week11
  1. Keep working on the magic box feature
  2. Working on all 3D models
  3. Finish the draft version of physical campfire
  4. Narrow down our scope

This week, we decided to narrow down the scope, turn it into doable tasks in the next few weeks. As we all work from home, the physical limits also make us must pay more attention to communication and ways to cooperate in a long distance. As we reconsidered it, we decided to narrow down our scope and use the left of time to polish our interactions into a smooth experience.

Direction

For the experience flow, we decided to combine the construction part, physical props all in the lobby scenario. And make the BBQ an activity for players to play and interact with.

From the beginning, players will see a physical campfire and virtual fire in it, they could use stones nearby to build up the campfire into a grill. Then they could get tools or materials in a designed order from the physical magic box, to help them figure out what to do next. For example, They get a grill plate out of the magic box and put on the grill to start BBQ.

Improvement on Magic box

We started working on how to naturally pull tools and materials out of the magic box, cause there is a magic feeling. And we decided to put a mist on the top of the magic box, to give a magical feeling. The player will not see what inside the magic box, but directly pull it from the box.

Art assets

At the same time, we prepare the art assets for future weeks’ use. We build a chart together to make it clear that what we are going to need, and the status of the 3d models. As we are going to cook, the food materials will have raw, cooked, overcooked situations, to make the interactions more interesting.

We will post all the art assets when they are all finished!
