10 – Kill All The Bugs!

This week PewPewPew spent most of our resources fixing bugs that have gone out of control within our game. We made sure our game was able to run smoothly in release build so we could test our game outside of the unity editor, allowing us to play test our game in different scenarios. We have also implemented the enemy attack system which puts a score penalty on both players if they are not able to kill the enemy before it attacks.

We will be play testing once again this week with help from our counterparts in Pittsburgh, team Projectile, who have graciously agreed to help us play test our game. Thank you team Projectile for taking the time to test our game for us.

After our clients play tested our halves build, they have encouraged us to pursue gyroscope input as our primary input in the game because gyro gives a more immersive experience and can contribute to the viability of using gyro as an input device for future games on the connected tv. While gyroscope input brings many technical challenges to with it, we hope that we would be able to find good workarounds and standardize the gyro data that will be given to us from different devices.

Next week, our artists will be working on turning our static assets into animated assets. This tree is a simple prototype of what the artists can accomplish using unity animations. We hope that with our assets animated, we will be able to breathe more life into our environment and improve user experience.

Our tech team will be supporting the artists with integration of art assets and exterminating the bugs that have been sitting in our basement all this while. They will also assist our designer in fine tuning the layout and experience of each of our levels.

Finally, we will finish the development of the exciting conclusion of our game, the boss fight. The boss in our game will be a ninja guru who serves has to be defeated for our player to graduate from the academy. He will use a variety of engaging and/or deceptive tricks to challenge our player’s dexterity and reaction speeds. A player’s performance in this boss fight will severely impact a player’s score either positively or negatively. Stay tuned next week to see a demo of our boss fight!
