1 – Winding Up

Newsletter-1-Picture-1

This week was all about breaking the ice within a team of members from all across the world. The make of our team consists of Edwin Aw as our Producer, Eric Chang as our Game Designer, Mingxun Chong as our Lead Programmer, Fiona Yu as Lead Artist, Nayoung Kim and Hannah Turner as 2D artists, and last but not least, Kiran George as our programmer; a good balance of 4 programmers and 3 artists, which will prove valuable as we tackle a new challenge of developing on Electronic Art’s newest platform, the connected TV.

Our task at hand is to develop a set of 3 game proposals to pitch to our clients next week. Our deliverable for this semester is a family oriented shooter prototype, which makes full use of EA’s Origin controller on mobile devices. As there haven’t games of the action shooter genre released on EA’s connected TV platform we are very excited to be given an opportunity to be pioneers in this field.

This week, we have focused our efforts on brainstorming for as many different shooter type games that could be developed on the connected TV. We have arrived at 16 unique game concepts and have further narrowed them down to just 7. Our team will be further developing and polishing each of these 7 ideas over the course of next week so that we may arrive at our 3 best ideas which we will pitch to our clients. Stay tuned to our website to see elaborated versions of our game idea next week.
