Dev Blog Week 14

Soft Opening
During the soft opening, we tried to do a remote live demo with our faculties. However, the internet connection was not stable enough for Alexa to capture the voice clearly so we went for a demo from our team member, instead of letting the faculties try it. Fortunately, we’ve sent out a demo video before the soft opening so they had a chance to watch it before meeting with us. Overall, the feedback was positive for our design. But there are some technical issues that caused bugs that we are continuously fixing. The feedback we got:
- The game feels very ‘Sim’
- Visuals are strong and playful but do take care though to represent a diverse population.
-
Fill in additional playful moments like reactions to eating or partying exclusively if time permitted.
Code Review
This week, we had a code review with our client to explain how the system works and how to add new content. During the code review, we received a lot of helpful feedback, such as variable name consistency, code reuse, proper comments. Among the feedback, the client mentioned about minimizing the database operations, because if the client publishes this skill in the future, they actually will pay for the database operations. That is something we didn’t notice during our development process and learned after the code review.
Client Deliverables
We also started working on some deliverables for the client, such as assets and documentation.
