This week, we merged 3 scenes together with all the adjustments we made on the interaction and nurse avatar and got a draft version of the complete experience. Due to the social distancing, we only shared the demo video with ETC students and faculty to review and fill in a survey for our prototype.

Overall people feel the whole experience is smooth and the purse of simulating the feeling of the patient is clear. But when it comes to the most important question about do you have a better understanding of the feeling of patient and empathy towards the patient, only 5 out of 10 people answered agree. For those who answered neutral or disagree, the reasons include: the conversation content needs to be carefully designed, also the talking pace, and also the nurse’s behavior and animation. We get to realize how important it is to make the details of the nurse natural and realistic to improve the overall experience quality. Besides, some people comment the story is too flat to actually get the impact of behavioral change or significant takeaways, some emphasis on the patient feeling and feedback is needed.

Looking back to our earlier research, we did draw a lot of insights from the interviews and research like the patient’s feelings of the scare, loneliness, embarrassment, helplessness, anxiety, etc. We need to figure out how to smoothly convey those feelings in our next round of iteration.
