This week was mostly spent getting to know our clients and understanding our design challenges. From the day 1 we started to talk to each other about how we were excited about the project and thought how will the product be shaped after the end of semester. We also had a phone meeting with our client to know more about the requirements and how did they want us to proceed with shaping our ideas. While it’s still early in the development process, it was helpful setting some basic goals for the project. For the current stage of development, our clients encouraged us to be very “broad” in our brainstorming, so having some design targets, even basic ones, are necessary for doing brainstorming in the future. We also began digging through some of the eSports and Twitch.tv-like websites which in turn will help us a lot.
For week 2, our goal is to do more concentrated brainstorming, focusing on the player experience goals we set out in week 1. We will also need to step up our research, and begin looking for games and products that will give us a better idea of how to achieve these goals.
