One again, it’s been a busy couple of weeks. For week 12, we had a come to an agreement that we needed to make a lot of changes if we wanted this experience to reach where we thought it should. So most of the week was spent on getting things ready for our sprint goal. We mainly divided the sprint plans into 2 different sprints. One was mostly regarding the changes that we needed to do for the game play changes and also some of the camera changes. Julian came up with a tiered plan for the level so that we have a sense of height when playing the game, which also allows us to include some cinematic moments.
We also thought that the game needed more juiciness so that we can make the player feel empowered when hitting the enemies. For this particular playtest in Week 13 we wanted to focus on more of the game play changes. And we playtested with mainly the faculty so that they see the experience before soft opening on Monday. The most interesting feedback we got was people wanted to vote on something or the other before every encounter. We tried to make sure that viewers actually do vote on something or the other right before every encounter. But, the problem comes with the 20s delay with Twitch and the game. We still pushed for getting close to our final product.
Now that we had some part of Twitch interaction done, we set to work turning the game into a full complete experience, both for the faculty at softs, as well as for our final deliverable to the client. As we’re envisioning it, softs will actually be a good test for our final product, as we’re expecting Fiero to be shown as a brief 10-min thing at Softs. As a result, we wanted to incorporate all the enemies and the Tanks/Turrets in the game to make it more fun and enjoyable.
So, with that, we have our first semi-complete, beginning-to-end gameplay experience ready. It’s exciting to have something that, with a little more polish and refinement, we can hand over to our client and get out into the world.
