This was a short week due to Martin Luther King Day, but it was jam-packed with brainstorming. We met as a team to begin generating some basic ideas. From there, we explored some of these related ideas more deeply in order to generate more concrete ideas. We also put together a survey for our classmates to get more diverse opinions on the app discovery, using the App Store and the Google Play Store. We found out that 70% people from a range of around 40 were not satisfied with the idea of having a Rotten Tomatoes for the handheld devices. We then started to have meetings to discuss potential obstacles that might come in our way to development.
After that, we began focusing on coming up with specific prototype ideas. Julian, our Game Designer came up with an idea which involved interacting with the player who is playing the game as a viewer. The idea really clicked with us because it had the potential to leverage the existing technology that Verizon already has and also it would also declare Verizon in the eSports and gaming industry. The mechanic proposed was to interact with the player as a viewer by typing in keywords from the chat, thereby helping the player in his journey. We also discussed about using some specific streaming platforms like Twitch.tv and Mobcrush.
On the art side, we started to think of our art direction and came up with using the low-poly art style that our client was happy to use. We also divided the work of making the logo and the poster of our experience amongst our 2 artists, Lai Lai and Abhishek.
We also met with Shirley, our adviser to discuss our prototype ideas. It was generally well-received, and we got some useful feedback for when we present them to our client on Thursday.
