In week 7, we were getting prepared for the incoming halves presentation.
On the tech side, we finished our prototype, and finished the in-group playtesting.
Before we gave our half presentation we had a meeting with Jessica Hammer discussing about our Elkonin Box and whole application design. This meeting helped us a lot in improving and sharping our design. We went through changes we made. We first showed the digitization we had, then went to the game design on the Promethean Board.
Jessica Hammer acknowledged the change we made to reinforce phonemic awareness. Touching screen helps students do exercise just like the how they did it physically. Emphasizing moving rather than spelling avoids the bad writing experience for students, and on the other side it typically helps students repeat the moving action which is the most effective way to reinforce memory of phonemes.
Helping us know the leading role of teacher, Jessica also shared her opinions on the in-class teaching design.
Attached are the slides we would show in the halves presentation.
