While a student at the ETC, Phil was unsettled by the violent nature of a visiting company's demonstration of the latest game they were building. He went up to Dr. Randy Pausch's office, and confided his desire for a career which would be full of creativity and play—but aimed as directly as possible at helping to build a healthier world and society. Randy's response has informed and guided his career decisions ever since. Upon graduation, he co-founded a startup along with his ETC teammates, making entertainment systems designed for hospital waiting room areas. Over six years, that startup built and shipped over 100 kiosks worldwide and developed games along with partners who shared our mission and values. After the startup closed in 2012, Phil had a fulfilling career working on apps for sports teams as a backend engineer at YinzCam, and as a Site Reliability Engineer at Google. Since 2020, Phil's focus has been on teaching and developing programs with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania, Chatham University, and CMU.
