Week 1

During our first week, the team met with our client, brainstormed many ideas, and built a paper prototype.

We traveled to the East Franklin School to meet our clients for this project:

  • Tracy Ross – Teacher at East Franklin
  • Dr. Kristin Szewczyk -Principal of East Franklin
  • Audrey Mowry – Our main client at Intermediate Unit One.
  • A classroom of twelve children in grades K-6, requiring special education services.

From our first client meeting, we were given fairly broad details regarding what they were looking for with the project.

  1. The target audience for the project can be from grades K-6.
  2. The project should have a math education focus.

We were also able to set-up a schedule for weekly meetings and found that the school will be very open to us to come and conduct playtests.

After this meeting, we began brainstorming, researching and designed an initial game concept called MathSlimes.

In this concept, players could apply mathematics operators to combine cute slime characters in order to change their size. We decided that this would be one of the ideas that we would pitch to the client, and began working on concept art and paper prototyping.
