Week 13

As Thanksgiving coming soon, we are actively updating our prototype, so that to make sure we are ready for next week’s Soft Opening walkarounds, which is similar to a beta release of this project.

We managed to make a prototype of a feature that we talked about for a while but didn’t put time into, called “Create Your Own Star”. This uses Vuforia’s capability to detect a ground plane through the mobile camera and place a bronze star there with a customizable name option. We tried this internally and decided to show it separately during softs as it wasn’t ready for the app yet.

What this also meant was that we needed to re-jig our introduction and menu system. We white-boarded some ideas as to how to navigate between each page or feature, and an elegant solution was to have a mini-menu which could pop-up on the left side of the landing pages of each celebrity. It was not a top priority for the softs, but we’d have it developed in eventually. The plan right now is that Menu would have the Create Your Own Star feature, the Celebrity List and the About page. We’ll incorporate feedback from faculty during softs and see how this is going to work.

With content for Clemente, this completes our personal target for at least 3 celebrities in the app before the end of semester. At this point we’ll only be polishing and refining the content and usability of the app. More on softs feedback next week so see you then!
