Episode Four: On Our Feet

Our fourth week was a blur: Fast, slow, busy, distracted, stressful, tiring, and exciting.

We got little done in the first two days of our week. Most of the team was busy handling the first BVW Finals testing session, putting out fires, and assisting first-semester students. We entertained numerous guests and visitors to the ETC (including EA), leading us to reschedule several meetings. Despite the lack of time to buckle down and work, the numerous guests had great advice for our project and were solid practice for Quarters.

Despite this setback, we did make some progress this week. Christian managed to integrate Foursquare calls into the app and we now have our basic check-in feature useable. He will now begin to work on incorporating our battle system.

Erica made great strides with music as well, finishing our battle theme and now beginning to explore sound effects for the Locanimals.

Art had a great deal of progress. Dani finished our team’s branding, which for the most part was well received during critiques. She also began creating mock-ups for the UI, which the team was excited about. Phil continued work on several Locanimals, with the models now finished for all of our starters (and awaiting textures). He ended the week by doing an array of animations for Fennec Fox to display at Quarters. John also made progress redesigning a few of our Locanimals from earlier on in pre-production to match the evolving style of our game. Our advisors helped us get copies of zBrush, so Dani and John will begin experimenting with the software.

Though our week began in a frantic, stressful fashion, we ended the week with taking our team photo. The photo shoot was a nice release to the week, allowing the team to (quite literally) lie back and just hang out.
