Episode Six: Pitch

Our sixth week presented challenges to the team. The primary challenge being our pitch for a second semester.

The pitch ended up consuming a great deal more time and resources than we had anticipated. The weekend and first two days of the week were spent planning, practicing, and meeting with the faculty.

The meetings with faculty were rather illuminative for both a second semester and our current work. Though we had a strong showing at Quarters, many faculty wanted to see a prototype build as soon as possible (though with our scope and schedule it would be done around halves). They also stressed that we should begin testing and iterating as quickly as possible (though this desire was not stated during our Quarters feedback).

The actual pitch itself went well in terms of feedback; the faculty’s previous points were reiterated in our feedback. Though unfortunate to get this information now (as opposed to last week after Quarters), it was crucial to get this perspective as soon as possible. As a result of this, we are picking up the pace for the next sprint and adding more incremental testing in the next two weeks.

In terms of our other progress this week:
For Tech, Christian created XML files to give the team access to design features. In addition, he implemented Locanimal creation and the Battle engine (along with a randomized AI routine for battles).

Art made great progress in creating UI elements. Two more Locanimals were created and textured (with one now in progress). Locanimal designs are now beginning to branch out away from just “cute” and into more personality types.

More to come next week!
