Andy (Ping) Li

Born and raised in Shanghai China, Andy has been lucky enough to have had access to many world class movies, concerts, exhibitions and museums. He has developed a strong interest in storytelling and obtained a BA in Film and Television Directing from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. After working at several local TV stations and studios, Andy found his true passion is not only on telling stories through film but creating inspiring experiences with all kinds of art forms and technologies.

Finally Andy decided to join the ETC. While at the ETC, he helped improve the humanoid robot Der-1 by imbuing it with a personality, making it less creepy, more believable, and by designing a new animation software. Last semester, he worked with the USDA to use games to fight the crisis of childhood obesity. His current team will be designing an interactive experience to present a future-changing invention and it’s innovator for the Fast Forward exhibition in the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.

As William Faulkner indicated in his Speech Accepting the Nobel Prize in Literature “the spirit of humans are Love and honor and pity and pride and compassion and sacrifice.”
