1) Kick-off meeting with Brenda and Ralph

Meeting Time

We decided to have our regular meeting with Ralph and Brenda, every Friday 11:00 am.

(1/22 (Fri) the meeting will be at 1:00 pm because of Brenda’s schedule)

Tips for the team

Ralph and Brenda suggested us to prepare multiple ideas that looks different for pitch.

Set playtest date will help increasing productivity of the team.

Suggestion

Avoid the gun/cannon like art assets

Avoid the violent game mechanic, shooting snowball to the head.

Consider snowball making mechanics. (Quality of snow, temperature, size of the snowball)

Consider temperature as a time element.

(More detail is at the google drive meeting note section)

We can have one team dinner at the end of the semester. We can spend $40 for each teammate. All the receipt have to be submitted to be reimbursed. No alcoholic beverage can be reimbursed.

If the teammate are planning to go conferences, they have to inform their mentor and submit the “request to travel” form to be reimbursed. It covers $2500 for each person. Every tiny expenditure has to be proved by official receipt. The person who got reimbursed from ETC has to submit report (including photo and description) to their mentor and Caitlyn.

Requesting conference room at ETC

People who wants to request the conference room needs to send email to Janice.

We discussed about the theming. Currently, paper snow flake, cushion and igloo tent is on the list.

3) Brainstorming

Game mechanic

We brainstormed about the game mechanic. Jerry developed three core mechanic idea that inner client Tom Corbett suggested; construction, aiming and dodging mechanic. To find most engaging mechanic and explore the possibility, we decided to develop each mechanic by different programmer. After programmers develop the mechanics by their own style, we will find out how can we integrate or make balance between the mechanics.

Concept Art

Winnie started to draw sketches and concept art. I asked her to draw various type of concept art. We will have a discussion about the art style after our first version of game mechanic is fixed.

Sound

Joshua will work on making various music prototype and find out which music will be adequate for our game.

Martin: Construction mechanic, Wenyu: Aiming Mechanic, Sarah: Dodging mechanic.
