We scheduled our first playtest on next weekend(3/1). For preparing it, we met Jessica Hammers to get some advice to building our playtest design well. Based on her advice, we could design our measuring method for our testing. Our test has two goals. One is testing Art style and narrative design and the other is testing UI design for kids. Basically, we are going to use videotaping method to get data from the test. And, we have opened our website.

We prepared ¼ walkarounds presentation for a week and we did it on Friday. For this presentation, we prepared the first workable prototype of our user interface. While preparing this presentation, we think we approached our goal more closer and got clear view of our project. Feedback from faculty members is also helpful for us to make next step. For next week, we are going to fix our prototype for play test and design questionnaires for it.

Based on our brainstormed ideas, we started to make the first prototype. We set up demographic playtest three weeks later. Our focus of this playtest is interface design, art style for kids, and how children communicate through tablet communication system. We worked for concept design, interface design, and building basis of program this week. For next week, we’re going to make rough version and do internal playtest of it.

We brainstormed and make three different kinds of ideas. What we chose is making educational experience based on storytelling. In order to show our idea on next client meeting, we are making storyboard and description for it. After next client meeting, we have a plan to make our first working prototype based on this idea. Minjong left for attending a conference held in LA last Thursday. She will be back on this Sunday.

After client meeting on this Monday, we started to brainstorm our ideas. After that, we made first storyboard and server-client prototype running on Android tablet. We have a plan to show these to our client next week. After next meeting, We are going to narrow down our ideas to achieve final goal of the project. Also, Minjong and Megan began to make our team logo and poster.

Our team has set to make virtual peers with HCII, our client. The objective of this project is creating an engaging Virtual Peer character that works with children ages 5-13 on interactions associated with science literacy. We began by setting up our room and discussing goals and project roles.

Megan and Minjong will be artists. Chitian and Kuang-Hsin will be programmers. Hyunghwan will be a producer and a sound designer.
