Blog – Week 1 (Introductions)

Hello and welcome to FeelsBot! Our team is dedicated to exploring and creating a short, interactive, emotional experience in Virtual Reality. With developers from the Oculus Story Studio acting as our mentors, we hope to construct an engaging and powerful experience while learning the ins and outs of what it takes to make such an experience.

Our team is small but talented:

Brian Matthew Beebe, the team’s Producer, has experience in film production and editing, as well as AAA cinematic game production experience working on Madden NFL.

Justin Ouyang, the team’s Programmer, has a degree in computer science and has worked on an unannounced VR title for Viacom.

Wendy Zhou, the team’s Artist, has worked as a UI/UX designer for HBO and has shipped an app on the Google Play store called VR Rehearsal.

Ross Houston, the team’s Game Designer, has worked on a number of transformational titles at Simcoach Games that are currently available on the Google Play and the iOS App Stores.

During our first week, our team got acquainted and began building concepts and design pillars that will guide us for the rest of the semester. These pillars are:

  •  Interactions have emotional consequences
  •  Players have an emotional change during experience
  •  Takes advantage of the VR medium

We also came up with several concepts which we hope to pitch to our advisors, Carl and Erin next week. We will then begin prototyping and building our experience!
